Judy A. Saslow Gallery pays tribute to the late Chicago artist, Matt Lamb

Chicago artist, sculptor, philosopher and peace activist, Matt Lamb has passed away at the age of 80.  The Judy A. Saslow Gallery is paying a special homage to Matt Lamb by exhibiting several of his pieces including some works on paper, canvas and purses.  Many pieces will be available for sale.

"Whispers of Love"
Matt started his career early on as a successful business man, working as the CEO for Chicago’s largest family-run funeral home franchise.   After a close brush with death at the age of 51, he was forced to re-consider his life’s work, resulting in a decision to permanently pursue his love of art.  His rewarding career as an artist enabled him to travel extensively and work out of his several studios throughout the world including Ireland, France, German and Argentina.  His pieces have been described as both mysterious and whimsical.

Matt Lamb founded the Umbrellas for Peace project in 2001, a global art project involving painting and decorating umbrellas by children and adults. The program was created to use art to help individuals work through pain and grief and find their hopes and dreams. Lamb’s philosophy behind the project was that the painting of the umbrella is a tangible manifestation of the concepts of peace, love, and hope in someone’s life. Over 2 million individuals in 29 countries have participated in Umbrellas for Peace project.

The Judy A. Saslow Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. It is located at 300 W. Superior St., Ste. 103 in Chicago. For more information about Judy Saslow and her gallery, please visit http://jsaslowgallery.com or call 312-943-0530.
