Noted Chicago jazz guitarist and Chicago French Market (131 N. Clinton St., Chicago IL, 60661; 312-575-0306) favorite, Chris Goranson returns 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 28 for the market’s lunch time entertainment. Goranson is a guitar teacher with a degree in Jazz Performance from Northern Illinois University. Currently, he plays in a rock band called OurGlass, who recently performed for JBTV.

Westfield French Market comes to a close September 27

The Westfield French Market comes to a close Thursday, September 27.  However, as summer winds down, a slew of garden-fresh produce are coming into season. Radicchio, plums, winter squash and turnips are some vegetables that are harvested fresh in September and are available now towards the close of Westfield’s French Market. Other end of summer crops includes apples, Asian pears, and peaches.

Westfield Old Orchard’s French Market provides consumers a convenient choice to buy the season’s ripest produce in their Thursday market. You’re invited to enjoy the last days of the market from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Thursday in September. The European-style market will offer artisan food, jewelry and gift items for the home from local and national vendors including B True Bakery, Hahn Bakery, KAP Farm, Organo Gold Coffee, The Blue Olive, Fraternite, Notre Dame, Provence Imports,Twin Garden Farms, and The Bakeman.

Up and coming country/folk singer and songwriter, Erich McMann will be holding a special performance at the Westfield French Market September 20.  Come and enjoy a free concert showcasing songs from his debut album "The Last American Songbook." Get the chance to meet the Chicago-native and get a free copy of his recently release album.

For those end of summer shoppers still looking to enjoy the market, Westfield has added ‘dots’ to all the maps and directories around the shopping center to guide guests to the French Market area.  A-frame signs also have been placed at five of the major entrances to help navigate eager market shoppers through the center.

Francesca’s Bryn Mawr is partnering up with Fable Festival

 A newly established, community-based Fable Festival is taking place May 16 – May 20 in non-traditional spaces throughout Chicago’s Edgewater and Andersonville neighborhoods. The performance festival answers calls to action happening in town hall meetings across Chicago for more focus on neighborhood arts events in the City’s upcoming Cultural Plan.

Performances will take place in empty storefronts, public schools, cafes, restaurants, the Lakefront and bars in an effort to showcase the community and collaborate with businesses to bring more patrons to the Edgewater and Andersonville neighborhoods. This unique event invites over 20 established theater-makers and performance companies to present a weekend of new, short works based on international fairy tales and fables – often accompanied by music, puppets,  food and drink.


Thursday, May 17, 8pm - Hearts and Brains present The Story Story By Lacy Campbell.

Two puppets and two projectors telling three stories, each illustrated by three different visual artists. Assorted crostini and pizza will be provided by Francesca’s throughout the event.



Sunday, May 20, 12-2pm - iO’s Storytown

From superheroes to undersea adventures, Storytown takes you on an interactive, fully improvised adventure, using your suggestions and ideas to create a different story every time. Kids design the setting and help shape the story, and the actors, artists, and musicians bring it to life. Recommended for children 3 and up.  Francesca’s will provide gelato as refreshments for the little ones.
