Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar Presents Silver Oak & Twomey Wine Dinner

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar will feature five handcrafted Napa Valley wines from Twomey Cellars and Silver Oak Cellars at a special five course wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10. The dinner is $125 per person and includes paired wines with five courses (cost excludes tax and gratuity). Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse is located at 25 East Ohio Street in Chicago, Illinois.

Silver Oak Cellars has crafted extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon for more than 35 years. Founded by Raymond Twomey Duncan and Justin Meyer in 1972, Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon consistently represents the very best, attracting a loyal following across the country and around the world. In 1999, Duncan and his four sons founded Twomey Cellars with the same philosophy as Silver Oak. Twomey, however, combines the family’s winemaking experience with a spirit of innovation, working with a number of varietals, including handcrafted Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.

"We are very pleased to be hosting this dinner along with Silver Oak Ambassador, Tom Johnson," says Curtis Nordeen, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse Chicago operating partner. “Silver Oak and Twomey have mastered their winemaking skills and produce varietals that are food-friendly and deliciously drinkable upon release.”

The evening will begin with a reception of Artisanal Cheeses and Breads alongside Harvest Fruits and TWOMEY, Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley, 2006; as well as Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with Chipotle Sauce and Vegetable Relish with Twomey, Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County, 2008.

The first course will be a Chopped Salad with Organic Field Greens, Artichoke Hearts, Olives, Tomato, Onion and Lemon Balsamic Vinaigrette paired with Twomey, Merlot Napa Valley, 2005. The salad is followed by Lobster Bisque and a Tempura Lobster Skewer paired with Silver Oak, Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, 2006. The third course is a Main Filet Mignon with F17 sauce, Fleming’s Signature Potatoes and Porcini Dusted Green Beans paired with Silver Oak, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, 2006. The dinner concludes with Fall Harvest Cheesecake with Cinnamon Whipped Topping and Graham Cracker Crust served with coffee and tea.
Reservations for the Silver Oak & Twomey wine dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse are required and may be made by calling (312) 329-9463. Please note that space is limited.

About Silver Oak Cellars
Entrepreneur Raymond Twomey Duncan first visited the Napa Valley in the late 1960s and began purchasing orchards, pastures and vineyards throughout the Napa and Alexander Valleys. In 1972, Duncan approached Justin Meyer, an experienced wine maker to help plant and manage the vineyards. Duncan and Meyer had a bold vision for producing a single wine—Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley vineyards produced the first Cabernet Sauvignon harvest later that year.

Meyer left the Silver Oak brand in 2001, but Duncan and his family continue to lead SilverOak, carrying forward the vision established more than 35 years ago. To learn more, visit http://www.silveroak.com/

About Twomey Cellars
After decades of making Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, Ray Duncan and his four sons founded Twomey Cellars in 1999. Twomey combines winemaking experience with a spirit of innovation, enabling the brand to work with a number of varietals including handcrafted Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. Twomey was founded with the same philosophy that guided Silver Oak: make food-friendly wines that are deliciously drinkable upon release.

With two wineries, one in Calistoga devoted to Merlot, and one in Russian River designed for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, Twomey is able to work small, focus on quality and carry out its mission of making handcrafted wines. To learn more, visit http://www.twomeycellars.com/.

“Opening Nights” Wine Tastings of New Fleming’s 100™ Highlight Month-Long Celebration

The annual unveiling of the new Fleming’s 100™, the award-winning list of 100 wines by the glass, at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar has become a much anticipated event for food and wine lovers. This year’s debut of the new 2010/2011 list during Fleming’s “Month of Discovery” will be especially enticing as “Opening Nights” scheduled for every Thursday in September offer guests the opportunity to sample each of the Fleming’s 100™.

The month-long celebration at two Chicago area Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse locations: 25 E. Ohio St., Chicago, Ill., and 960 Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire, Ill. in September includes:

The New Fleming’s 100 “Opening Nights” every Thursday (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th) in September at 6 p.m. – An unprecedented series of wine tastings featuring all 100 selections provides guests with a rare opportunity to sniff, swirl, sip and spit like an international wine expert. Each Opening Night will feature 20 wines from the Fleming’s 100™. The first four tastings will be wine selections available at every Fleming’s nationwide. The final tasting will feature selections by each Fleming’s local Wine Manager and Operating Partner. (Please visit http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/ for wine selections to be served on each Opening Night.)

Memorable Meal: A Trio of Fleming’s Classics through September 30 – Guests are invited to experience a variety of tastes of classic Fleming’s entrees, served “flight” style with three small entrees on a plate – Filet Mignon, Ahi Tuna and Lamb Chop – for two at $99. The three-course Memorable Meal also includes a Broiled Peach and Goat Cheese Salad, a trio of roasted vegetables and a trio of crème brulees for dessert. For $10, guests may add a flight (three 2-ounce tastes) of paired wines from the new Fleming’s 100, selected by Director of Wine Marian Jansen op de Haar, to perfectly complement each of the three entrees.

Exclusive Caymus Interactive Wine Dinner September 21 – Wine lovers can join iconic Caymus Vineyards owner and winemaker, Chuck Wagner, Fleming’s Director of Wine Marian Jansen op de Haar and Executive Chef Russell Skall, via live video from Northern California – a wine dinner like no other! The Napa-inspired menu is paired with Wagner Family of Wines, Conundrum, Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay and Late, and an extraordinary vertical tasting of the 2000 and just-released, 2008 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet, the only wine ever named twice as “Wine of the Year” by Wine Spectator. This promises to be a memorable evening not to be missed! (Cost is $125 per person. Please visit http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/ for specific locations and dates.)

Wine Tuesdays every week in September – Every Tuesday (7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th), guests will receive 25% off* any bottle selection from the new Fleming’s 100 or, if they prefer, they may bring in their own favorite and enjoy complimentary corkage**. Cathy Richardson with special guest Wendy Colonna, September 12
Cathy Richardson makes her Mayne Stage debut Sunday, September 12 with an opening guest at 8:30 p.m., followed by special guest Wendy Colonna at 9:20 p.m. and ending with Richardson at 10:20 p.m.

Chicago singer/songwriter/Rock Goddess Cathy Richardson returns home for a rare solo, acoustic performance at the beautiful Rogers Park performance space, Mayne Stage. To see Richardson live is as much concert as it is a transcendent experience, she conjures up spirits and makes magic, hair raises on the back of your neck as her voice vibrates waves of energy that seem to penetrate directly into your soul. You have been physically changed. You are a believer.

"For my money, Richardson is the best singer in the city and, when she's at her best, in rock today." says chicagoconcertgoers.com critic Dave Miller. Renaissance Woman Richardson could also be called "the hardest working woman in show-business," independently releasing seven award winning albums (billed solo and as Cathy Richardson Band, including the 2004 GRAMMY Nominated Road to Bliss, and 2007 DIY Album of the Year Delusions of Grandeur) starring as Janis Joplin in the acclaimed Off-Broadway and National casts of Love, Janis, and since 2008, touring as lead vocalist for Jefferson Starship. Her latest project, the Macrodots, is a collaboration with San Francisco guitarist and producer Zack Smith. Their debut album the Other Side (available now on iTunes) contains all the hooks and thought-provoking lyrics that fans expect and, with Smith's modern rock influence, showcases Richardson's fearsome voice in a way not captured until now. Their hit single Every Time can currently be heard on Chicago's 93XRT.

Wendy Colonna is an award-winning songwriter and performer of southern soul and poetic lyricism borne of her rich Gulf Coast heritage. Evocative and powerful, her voice ignites both memory and desire. Colonna was voted “Best Singer Songwriter” in Austin, and received the grand prize in the “Famecast International Talent Competition” among other songwriting awards. Her latest album, We Are One, is a harnessing of her Louisiana roots with a collection of songs that are soulful with Gulf Coast harmonies.

Indie rock/pop artist, Colin Tyler makes his Mayne Stage debut with a concert on Thursday, September 16 at 8:30 p.m.

To insert a typical bio here, listing bands and accomplishments, in order to get to know Colin Tyler is to misunderstand him and his music. Perhaps the best explanation of Colin and his music come from his own words in a recent interview, "... It is my firm belief that here and now our culture is standing at the threshold of a revival; and not just musical, but of all things synthetic. We are begging for something honest and pure in all aspects of our existence; from the foods we eat, to politics and the information we receive, right down to music and art... Music is not supposed to be perfect, it is supposed to be honest..." Colin's music is about the story telling, the experience, the precise moment at which your paths cross to form a real memory that will have an effect which will ripple through your time and your space long after you leave the show. Learn more at http://www.myspace.com/colintyler.
