Alex Sanchez Q&A
This Lancôme's make-up artist, Alex Sanchez, has created looks for Fashion Focus and New York Fashion week, as well as getting celebrities red-carpet ready.
How did you get your start in the business?
I began by doing makeup for test shoots and fashion shows in Chicago, which led to a freelance job for a national talk show. And I've never looked back!
What is your creative influence?
Art and architecture are influences. Stephen Sprouse for pioneering the marriage of Rock & Roll with fashion, and the staggering beauty of the Chicago skyline.
Who is your beauty icon?
My mother; she has one of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen.
What works on every woman?
A sexy fringe of lashes works for every woman at any age. Mascara lifts and defines the eyes instantly, and Lancôme is the global mascara authority.
What is your best tip?
Apply bronzer in sweeping movements, beginning from behind the ears. It sculpts the face and jaw line, and visually takes off 5lbs.

Chicago Business Journal Honors 48 Women of Influence
The Chicago Business Journal (CBJ) recently named 48 honorees for its first-ever class of Women of Influence. Kurman Communications' founder and president Cindy Kurman Barrie is among the honorees.
The program honors women business leaders in the Chicago area who innovate, succeed and "pay it forward," who stand out both for their achievements in the marketplace as well as their commitment to community and mentoring.
CBJ is featuring each woman weekly. Kurman's profile provides insight to her development as a
business leader. She also discussed a new company, Newsline360, which she will launch with partners early in 2015.
The Chicago Business Journal's Women of Influence is part of a national effort by American City Business Journals — the premier company in the country devoted to the reporting of local business news — to identify and celebrate women business leaders and to foster business environments that will create even more successful women in the future.
Winners will be honored at a luncheon on Jan. 20.
