Tammy McCann and The Four Tenors at Jazz Showcase

Her upcoming performance, “Tammy McCann And The Four Tenors”, pays homage to her mentor Von Freeman and the hard work and dedication that it took her to be the inspiring Chicago jazz vocalist that she is today.  “It’s my love letter of appreciation to him for the gift of jazz he has given me” declares Tammy.  During her early years on the jazz scene, Freeman and his band took her under their wings and exposed her to the rhythm and style of the music genre. Being classically trained, she struggled with the improvisational nature of jazz during her training. “He lectured me to never try to sound like someone else, always be myself…” But after two years with Freemans and his musicians, little by little she stepped out on her own in the world of jazz only to become an internationally recognized jazz entertainer.
