Friday, July 22 - Guest Bartenders

Come and meet Chef Mark & Liz Mendez as they guest bartend at Prairie Fire, 6-8 p.m.Friday, July 22. Enjoy Aqua de Valencia and Tapas while learning more about their new cozy West Loop venture 68 seat Uva wine bar opening this fall.

What will Uva be like? Spain seems to be the biggest influence, which is no big surprise since Uva means grape in Spanish and Mark spent the recent past as chef of Carnivale. According to Chicago Magazine, the restaurant will have a small-plate menu, and will also serve an "an affordable selection of Spanish and global wines." Wines also will be available on tap.

The Tribune reports that Spanish influence will carry over to the food, too. Though the menu isn't finalized, it will include some tapas standards. An official opening date hasn't been set but Mendez hopes it will open in the fall.
