Hungry? Head on to Green City Market for Grab & Go Lunch

Shoppers at Green City Market know that it's a great place to find local sustainable fruits and vegetables and the fall harvest offers a beautiful array from which to choose. Regulars also know that it's the perfect spot to pick up lunch and other delicious prepared foods to take home or back to the office for everyone to enjoy.

Several new vendors to the market this year have treats not to miss.
Jared PizzaStart your journey at Jared Batson's, The Nomad Food Company, with a delicious wood fired pizza. With Brussels sprouts in full bloom, Nomad is featuring an "Eat Your Sprouts" special Fall pie featuring wood fired Brussels Sprouts ($16). Guests can add an egg on top for an additional $1.

Chaussons Aux Pommes 300Baker Arshiya Farheen was trained in France and brings her talents to the market featuring traditional French pastries at her stand Verzenay patisserie. New items for the Fall include: Chaussons Aux Pommes (French Apple Turnover) - Apple Compote enclosed in a super flaky puff pastry - $4.75; Poire en Cage (Pear in a Cage) - Pear poached in fall spiced syrup, encased in a puff pastry cage, with a little bit of pecan cream - $4.75; Pumpkin Tart-Oct 2014 300Double Trouble Pumpkin Tart - Combination of two layers of creamy light and airy pumpkin layers held in a crispy tart shell - $4.50, and Pumpkin Éclairs - Pumpkin cream filled in an éclair shell - $4.00.

apple pecan bread and cranberry spelt scone 300Bread baker Lawrence Rocke of Peerless Bread and Jam is featuring Apple Pecan Bread ($6) of barley and whole wheat flour and Cranberry Spelt Scones ($3).  

Seedlings is featuring hot apple cider for $3.

Green City Market visitors are always pleased to enjoy Abby's Crepes, made to order with fresh seasonal ingredients ($12). The Fall Feast is the flavor at Green City Market Lincoln Park's, and Maple Bacon is the special crepe at the Green City Market Fulton location.

Abby's CrepesGrilled cheeseFew things are more satisfying than a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich, and Green City Market's rendition is from Gayle's Best Ever Grilled Cheese. All sandwiches are made with Prairie Pure Cheese from Belvidere, Illinois and come in a variety of recipes. Gayle's also serves homemade soups. Sandwiches are $9 and the soups are $5.
