Sweet Baby Ray's Launches Regional 'Cue Specials for Summer

Now that it's officially summer, head to Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Restaurant (800 E. Higgins Rd., Elk Grove Village; 847-437-9555) for the new American regional barbecue menus. Monthly selections include Eastern North Carolina (June), Kansas City (July) and Texas (August) style barbecue, offered alongside the resto's authentic and high quality Chicago style barbecue.

June offers Eastern North Carolina style barbecue, inspired by the way Eastern North Carolina uses the whole hog for its barbecue. Sweet Baby Ray’s offers the Chopped Pork Sandwich, made from a whole smoked pig, including flavors of the shoulder, butt, tenderloin, ham, ribs, belly and hocks, served on a bun with a side of Carolina coleslaw, hush puppies and Eastern Carolina’s unique vinegar-based barbecue sauce (no tomato or sugar) on the side ($9.49). Rib lovers can add a one-third slab of ribs for just $4.

Since Kansas City is thought by many to be the ‘barbecue capital of America’ and the home of the American Royal, the world’s largest BBQ competition, the Sweet Baby Ray’s team is pleased to add the city’s barbecue style to its all-star lineup during the month of July. The restaurant’s rendition of Kansas City style barbecue is the Quarter Smoked Chicken with Burnt Ends, similar to brisket reduction, served with the Original Sweet Baby Ray’s Stovetop Recipe BBQ Sauce, a side of Kansas City style barbecue beans, Kansas City coleslaw and white bread ($10.49). Guests can add one-third slab of Baby Back or St. Louis ribs for only $4.

During the hot month of August, Sweet Baby Ray’s introduces its version of Texas Brisket offered lean or “with flavor,” served with the rich flavors from the fatty part of the brisket. The special menu includes a trio of Texas flavors with smoked brisket, smoked sausage (imported from Southside Market in Elgin, Texas) and pork spareribs, all served Texas style with Sweet Baby Ray’s own Texas barbecue sauce, barbecue beans and potato salad, complimented with all-you-care-to-eat pickles, onions, jalapeƱo peppers, saltines and white bread ($11.49).

In addition to the specials during these summer months, customers can order the signature Chicago-style barbecue dishes from the original menu. A restaurant favorite and a top selling item is the Pulled Pork Sandwich, seasoned with Sweet Baby Ray’s special rub, smoked low and slow for up to 12 hours, hand pulled with love, and infused with The Boss for $8.99. True Sweet Baby Ray’s fans can enjoy A Full Slab of Baby Back Ribs for $19.99.
