Restaurant Michael's Five Year Anniversary and This Week's Dover Sole Special

Don't forget to celebrate Restaurant Michael's five year anniversary! At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, Restaurant Michael celebrates its five year anniversary with lovely wines and the fabulous cuisine of chef/owner Michael Lachowicz's esteemed guest chefs.

Guest Chefs? YES! Lachowicz has lined up several friends and mentors to join him in making this a memorable evening for everyone in attendance. The line up is as follows: Roland Licionni of Le Francais and Les Nomads Fame, Patrick Chabert of Le Francais, Paul Wildermouth from Red Light and Opera Restaurants, and John Bubala from Thyme Restaurant.

Each of these talented gents will create a signature course to be paired with the perfect wine by Lachowicz's guest wine steward and brother, Tom Lachowicz. Tom spent 7 years as Michael's partner at Les Deux Gros and Le Francais, so he completely understands Michael's style of cooking. Michael will also prepare a course or two!

The wines for the evening are: Bruno Paillard Champagne with hors d' oeuvres; Loire Valley Domaine des Baumard Savennieres with the first appetizer; a classic 1999 Roayl Tokaji will be paired with the next course; and with the fish course will be the 2007 Domaine Leflaive Meursault 1er cru Sous le Dos d'Ane. The entree course is Michael's to prepare and he chose a lovely mid- 90's Griotte Chambertin from Burgundy. Of course there will be a cheese course in order to finish the previous wine. To round out the evening, the pairing with dessert will be 2005 Taylor Quinta de Varellas Porto 2005.

An added bonus for the evening will be the piano stylings of Mr. Michael Benshish.

With this many chefs involved, it is impossible to give the exact menu for the evening, so the team of chefs focused their pairings on the flavor profiles and sent them back to each chef with descriptions of the wines. It worked out beautifully! The cost for the evening for 8 courses and 6 wines will $185.00 per person plus gratuity and sales tax. Don't miss this special!

Now, onto this Friday, Sept. 17. This Friday, Restaurant Michael features once again those lovely Dover soles. They'll be removed from the bone at the table and arranged over Brown Butter Spatzle and Baby Squash. The sauce will be the Cognac- scented lobster butter and the low price this week will be $28.50. Please reserve yours when making the reservation. We have just 40 to sell this week so get them while they last!
