With your support, Kidsave will be able to facilitate its visit model by providing children with volunteer advocates who help them find permanent families and connections to caring adult mentors. A minimum of 7 Colombian children living in government care, ages 8-13, will visit Chicago in the summer of 2014.

Fork and Bottle Dinner at Francesca's Tavola


March 13, 7 p.m. – Francesca’sTavola (208 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005; 847-394-3950)

Francesca’s Tavola presents a Fork and Bottle Dinner Tuesday, March 13. This interactive dining experience and wine tasting is a more casual alternative to a wine dinner but still features delicious wines and food pairings. The event is $30 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations are required.

The evening starts with a cooking demonstration from Chef de Cuisine Gabriel Arista. He will be making Gameri con Salsa Romesco, grilled prawns with romesco and citrus. This will be paired with Caymus Conundrum. The menu will also include Filetto di Maiale con Fagioli, grilled pork tenderloin with white beans and sweet roasted tomatoes, paired with Belle Glos Meomi Pinot Noir. Pesce con Cipolline e Finocchio, halibut with caramelized cipollini onion, roasted fennel and forest mushrooms, will also be featured at the dinner. This will be paired with Belle Glos Clarke & Telephone.

Francesca's Tavola Hosts Winter Two Brothers Brewing Beer Dinner January 26

Francesca’s Tavola (208 S. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005; 847-394-3950) hosts a Two Brothers Brewing Company beer dinner 7 p.m., January 26.
Vintage BreweryOne of the brothers will be on-site to discuss their beer-making process and how their beers pair with Francesca’s food selections. This four-course meal is $35 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.

The meal starts with Polpo Grigliato, grilled octopus with fagioli gigantic, marinated sundried tomatoes and lemon vinaigrette, which is paired with Two Brother’s Ebel’s Weiss, a German Hefeweizen. This is followed by Polpetti Agnello, lamb meatballs with spicy San Marzano tomato sauce, arugula and lemon. This makes an excellent partner for the Cane & Ebel red rye ale. The third course features Gnocchi con Pancetta, sweet potato gnocchi with cipollini onions, pancetta and brown-butter sage. This is paired with Resistance, an India Pale Ale. The final course features Brasato di Bue, beer-braised beef ribs with parsnip puree paired with Two Brother’s Northwind beer.

Kurman Staff At Chicago French Market's First "Bon Anniversaire"

The Kurman Communications staff celebrated Chicago French Market’s (131 N. Clinton St., Chicago) first “Bon Anniversaire” at the VIP reception that was held yesterday evening (Thursday, Dec. 16) at the market.

Sebastian Bensidoun, owner of Chicago French Market was on-site from Paris, France to greet and celebrate with attendees including Arlington Heights Mayor/Director of Metra, Arlene Mulder who spoke of her thoughts regarding Chicago French Market during a short opening speech, “My love for France and my love for trains have met,” says Mulder who travels to France every year. Other attendees included U.S. Equities CEO, Bob Wislow; Premium Espression COO, Joerg Oberschmied; Lisle Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Julie LaFonda; Lisle Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Paula Gleason and French Embassy Trade Office Managing Director, Pierric Bonnard, among many others.


Attendees enjoyed champagne, hors d’oeuvres, sweets and a beautiful Croque en Bouche Arch de Triumphe (pictured) created by award-winning Chicago French Market artisan vendor Vanille Patisserie. Attendees also listened to the sounds of smooth jazz by Annalee Hoosen (sonicbids.com/annalee).

Chicago French Market continues on with the celebration this weekend. Help celebrate their first “Bon Anniversaire” during the two-day celebration in honor of Chicago’s first year-round, indoor market Friday, Dec. 17 until 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 18. Enjoy live music, drawings, and free tastings throughout Chicago French Market. Each day, 1,000 guests will receive a complimentary reusable tote bag, ideal for purchases made at one of the 30 artisan vendors. The market will open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Chicago French Market vendors will distribute “scratch off cards” to customers for a chance to win gift certificates for the market.


Tomorrow’s (Saturday, Dec. 18) festivities: Santa Claus will be at the market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy cake cutting and refreshments at 1:30 p.m., and live entertainment from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees are in for a treat as the LaSalle Academy Carolers will perform from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and two separate $300 gift certificates to L20, a Michelin three-star restaurant will be won in a drawing.

Pamela's Parkside Grill Announces $24 Prix Fixe Menu, Weekly Specials and July Artist Showcase and Worldwide Photo Walk

$24 Prix Fixe Menu, Tuesday - Thursday
In the heart of downtown Arlington Heights is Pamela’s Parkside Grill, a quaint restaurant with an eclectic New American menu owned by executive chef Howard Maybloom and partner Pamela Olin. Pamela’s Parkside Grill offers a great dinner value every Tuesday through Thursday with its four-course prix fixe menu for just $24.

Guests select an appetizer, including choices like Hummus with Pita, or Asian Glazed Chicken Wings. The next course is a selection of a House Salad, or Soup of the Day. Entrée dishes highlight Pamela’s eclectic menu with options like Half Roast Chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables, Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled shrimp, Wild Mushroom Risotto and Pasta with Stir Fried Vegetables and Grilled Salmon. Save room for dessert with selections like Crème Brulee, Ice Cream or Sorbet and Fresh Fruit. Prix fixe menu selections change weekly.

Weekly Specials
In addition to its rotating prix fixe menu options, Pamela’s Parkside Grill features a number of weekly specials that executive chef Howard Maybloom hand picks each week. Specials may include the Baked Goat Cheese appetizer with fresh herbs, garlic and tomato sauce ($8); Maple-Cajun Glazed Pork Chops with baked sweet potato and grilled pineapple ($26); Southern Comfort Chicken, a boneless chicken breast with peaches in Southern Comfort sauce with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables ($18); Blackened Great Lakes Whitefish with red beans and rice ($22); and Salmon Vesuvio ($19).

Pamela’s also features its signature flambé desserts like Bananas Foster and Crepes L’Orange ($10/$14). Other dessert specials include Pecan Pie ($8), and Cheesecake ($7).

Local Artists Featured in July
Owner Pamela Olin is a nationally recognized artist and welder and shares this passion with local artists by displaying the work of four artists each month. These unique pieces, a combination of sculptures, still life oil paintings, abstract acrylic work and photography, punctuate the eclectic feel of Pamela’s Parkside Grill. Artists whose work is featured at Pamela’s in July include:

Monthly Gallery Dinners at Pamela’s
As it launches its new artist showcases, Pamela’s offers a Gallery Dinner on the first Tuesday of each month. For $25, guests dine on four courses with the four featured artists of that month. The artists change tables after each course so that everyone gets a chance to dine with each artist. Space for the gallery dinners is very limited. Join Pamela’s for the Worldwide Photo Walk, July 24
On Saturday, July 24, Pamela Olin of Pamela’s Parkside Grill participates in the WorldWide Photo Walk with “A Dog’s Eye View of Arlington Heights.” The annual global walk features more than 900 walks across the globe with more than 19,000 participants worldwide. Guests for the Arlington Heights, Ill. walk are asked to bring their pups and cameras, and document the tour from the frame of a dog’s viewpoint.

The August artist showcase will feature submitted framed photos (8” x 10”) that fit the theme of “A Dog’s Eye View of Arlington Heights.” The submitted photos will be sold for $25 each during the August Gallery Dinner on Tuesday, August 3. All proceeds are donated to Arlington Heights charity, Buddy Foundation which provides safety and care for stray, abandoned and abused animals and seeks to re-home them with foster families and eventually “forever” homes. Listen To The Tunes of Live Entertainer Brad Conroy

Conroy is an accomplished performer on the classical guitar and has performed across the United States. Birch River Grill features Easter Brunch Buffet
