Food Industry News Presents October Seminars and Networking Events for Chicagoland Restaurant Community


Food Industry News, Chicago’s largest and oldest trade magazine focused on the local area’s restaurant and food service scene, continues its calendar of events that provide networking and learning opportunities for restaurant professionals.

October events will take place on Monday, October 11 and Monday, October 18 at Chandler's Chophouse (at the Schaumburg Golf Club), located at 401 N. Roselle Rd, Schaumburg, Ill.

The seminar portion will be held from 1-5 p.m., followed by a complimentary networking event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Admission for the seminars is $25 each afternoon.Opening the seminar on October 11 will be Mary Ann Platt, vice president of CNS/Foodsafe, facilitators of food recalls, speaking on Preventing the Headaches: What To Do in Case of a Food Recall for Suppliers, Manufacturers and Operators at 1 p.m. Following that, at 2 p.m., will be Ronald Cropper, vice president, Goodness Greeness and Sustainable Foods, an organic food distributor, discussing Adding Organic Foods to Menus. At 3 p.m. John Stocchero, a 25-year veteran of Vicorp Restaurants, speaks on Service Blunders to Avoid.

At 1 p.m. on October 18, Paul Cigna, a 35-year insurance veteran and President of Professional Consultants Incorporated, will open the afternoon with a discussion of Insurance: Secrets to Protect Yourself, Your Business and Avoid Having Claims Denied. At 2 p.m., Larry Estes, President of Catering By Max’s, and Bernie Pfieffer, President of Hot Shot Delivery Concepts will lead a discussion on How to Increase Your Catering. Burgers are the focus at 3 p.m. as Deb Abraham from Gordon Foodservice talks on Building a Better Burger: How to be famous for your burgers! The final session, at 4 p.m. features Cindy Kurman Barrie, president of Kurman Communications, Inc., who will discuss Twitter, Facebook and Social Networking as Key Business-building Strategies.
